Dr. Henry Der, Dr. Mike Zuk, Dr. Hussien Bapoo, and our staff enjoy getting to know each patient and their families and love creating strong relationships with clients that last multiple generations. Learn a little more about our dental team here:
DR. HENRY DER DMD
Dr. Der graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1988. He has been a dedicated dentist in the Red Deer area, providing his patients with excellent knowledge and education about dentistry and oral health. Dr. Der is able to perform a wide range of dental services. Many other dentists refer their patients to him for root canal therapy and surgical extractions, that would otherwise require a specialist. The Sleepy Smile™ program is Dr. Der’s sedation system which offers nervous patients a way to relax while having their dental treatment completed.
DR. MICHAEL W. ZUK DDS
Dr. Zuk graduated from Pacific Dugoni in San Francisco for dentistry. He is an undergrad at the University of Oregon. His hobbies include mountain biking, snowboarding, ice fishing, and ATV-ing. Anything outdoors, Dr. Zuk enjoys! He has grown up in Red Deer and excited to be a part of the growing community of Sylvan Lake to provide top-notch dentistry.
DR. HUSSEIN BAPOO DDS
Dr. Bapoo graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2012. Providing the best dental care to his patients with thoroughness, patience, gentleness, and care is his goal. Dr. Bapoo's passion lies in all aspects of dentistry, with working on children being very close to his heart. Dr. Bapoo is a proud father to a cute 3-year-old daughter. In his free time, he loves watching Disney movies with his daughter. He enjoys playing badminton and playing video games.
DR. TERRY MAH
Dr. Mah graduated from University of Alberta in 1986. As a general dentist, Dr. Mah has developed his main focus on orthodontics. With over 25 years’ experience, he has helped hundreds of people to create a nicer smiles. He enjoys gardening in his spare time and sharing memories with his daughter. He’s excited to offer orthodontics to the Sylvan Lake community.
DR. LEE OLSEN
Dr. Olsen was born and raised in Southern Alberta, Dr. Olsen grew up on a ranch near Hill Spring. He graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Education degree and taught school for 6 years before deciding to enter the field of dentistry. In 1986 Dr. Olsen graduated from the University of Alberta dentistry program and began working in Vermillion, Alberta where he practiced for 19 years. He then moved his family to Lima, Peru for a few years where he provided charity dental services and taught at the College. Upon returning to Canada, Dr. Olsen practiced in BC for many years before moving to Red Deer to be near family. Over the years he has continued to travel with Kindness in Action to Central and South America to provide dental care, he also enjoys spending time outdoors horseback riding, swimming, riding motorcycles and camping.Dr. Olsen enjoys all areas of dentistry including root canal services and extractions. He especially enjoys getting to know his patients and providing a comfortable environment for their care.
DR. SHAKIRA BAPOO
Dr. Shakira graduated with a Master of Public Health degree, followed by her dental degree from Western University. She recently just moved to Red Deer from London, Ontario to join her brother, Dr. Hussein Bapoo, at his practice. Dr. Shakira places focus on providing dental care in a gentle, compassionate, empathetic, and thorough manner. With her multitudes of nieces and nephews, children hold a special place in her heart. She is currently an undefeated champion at “Guess the Disney Song”. Dr. Shakira is very passionate about giving back to the community. In 2022, she participated in a pilot dental outreach program with her school and helped provide oral healthcare to locals in Rwanda. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, and spending time with her family.
